Matsuri, or traditional festivals, hold a special place in my heart. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of attending some of Japan’s most renowned festivals, from the lively celebrations of the Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka and the Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, to the more intimate and authentic gatherings of smaller rural festivals like the Kuroyami Matsuri. Each matsuri offers a unique atmosphere, whether it’s the vibrant energy of the crowds or the deep-rooted traditions passed down through generations.
